Drum
Circle Benefits
Participants
develop greater self-awareness and gain a deeper respect for
others. An understanding of the essential contribution made
by others' roles emerges. The parallels between the drum circle
and the workplace are easily made, and are further explored
through reflective sessions where participants are encouraged
to talk about their experience of the day and how it can be
applied to the workplace.
Our drum
leader seeks to achieve an understanding of personalities within
the group before an instrument is even picked up. As
drums are a highly effective way of highlighting personality
traits, our drum leader is able to select and distribute instruments
to enable the appropriate participants to grow in confidence
by asserting their voice or authority.
Others might
need to learn to listen and appreciate what others have to say.
Members recognise the challenges their own strengths and weaknesses
bring to the team without humiliation or direct confrontation.
The sessions
are not embarrassing and are great in helping develop confidence
in quieter, more introverted individuals (without them feeling
as if they are in the spotlight). It also teaches about how
to draw out quieter members strengths for the benefit of the
whole organisation.
Participants
will be able to develop their natural sense of rhythm - coming
away from the day with something they couldn't do before. It
is highly therapeutic and great stress relief. The drum leader
encourages participants to get in touch with the rhythm that
surrounds them each day - perhaps using rhythm to motivate (increase
their pace of work in a newly energized way) or to wind down
(not taking home the worries of the day).
